Is It Legal to Order Weed Online in California?
Yes, ordering weed online is legal in California, but only from licensed dispensaries. You must be at least 21 years old and have a valid, non-expired California ID. The state allows licensed retailers to sell cannabis for delivery and pickup, and many offer online ordering for convenience.
Why can't weed be shipped to California? Because federal law prohibits shipping cannabis across state lines, even between legal states. So, you can't order from an out-of-state dispensary and have it mailed to you. But within California, licensed dispensaries can deliver to your door.
Can anyone order weed online? No—you must be 21 or older. Dispensaries verify your ID at delivery or pickup. You can't order on DoorDash in California either; cannabis delivery is handled by licensed dispensaries or delivery services, not general food delivery apps.
According to the National Cannabis Industry Association, licensed dispensaries follow strict state regulations for testing, labeling, and safety. Ordering from a licensed dispensary ensures you get lab-tested, regulated products.
